Custom Carpentry

Brightline's custom carpentry shop produces built-in shelving, banquettes, mudroom benches, fireplace mantels and surrounds, wainscoting, board-and-batten, coffered ceilings, custom doors and trim packages. Everything starts with field measurements of your room, not generic shop drawings.

Most built-ins are designed in our shop and assembled on site so we control finish quality. We work primarily in maple, white oak and walnut for stain-grade work, and MDF or poplar for paint-grade. Scribed-to-wall fit, no visible fasteners, soft-close everything that opens, and finish-grade hardware throughout. For paint-grade work we sand to 150-grit, prime with a bonding primer, and spray two coats of cabinet enamel. For stain-grade we test stain on the actual species, finish with conversion varnish or hardwax oil depending on durability needs.

Custom carpentry is one of the highest-impact upgrades a home can get: it personalizes the space and tells visitors instantly that the home was thought through. We size pricing by linear foot or per piece depending on complexity. Typical built-in projects in Austin run $5K–$25K.
